Hi Everyone. Thank you for
dropping by. I would like to share my daily promotion steps with
writers and authors on how I'm trying to market my book A Healing
Heart. Writing the book was the easy part.
December 7, 2007 I
have been accepted to teach my Beginning Writer's Workshop at the South
Coast Learning Center in New Bedford, MA. My first class will be either
the first or second week in April of 2008. I will run one class in the
summer at their Rhode Island location. I hope to see some of you there.
Watch for the dates.
November 1, 2007 I ran a private
speaking engagement at the Emerson House located at the Gosnold
Rehabilitation Center in Falmouth, MA. I spoke to thirty women about
my life living with and losing a husband and daugher from alcoholism.
It had been the most gratifying experience of my life. I pray that one
person will be saved from my speech. The counselor, Angela, said it had
been the most powerful talk that they have heard.
October 20, 2007 I
called Gosnold Rehabilitation Center in Falmouth, MA. I'm going to be
donating a picture of Lori, a poem, "The Demons" from my new book
"Please God, Not Two" and prayer cards that Lori loved. I then asked to
speak to the women at the center during one of their meetings. They
were thrilled saying no one has spoken from the other side. They will
be calling to schedule a date.
October 18, 2007 Recalled
the Imagine Bookstore in Vineyard Haven and they're not going to carrry
A Healig Heart. Edgartowwn Books will decide in April or May of 2008
whether they will carry it. It's a hard struggle for me getting my book
on the shelves of bookstores. They say only one percent get out there.
I have to be thankful that I have A Healing Heart in five bookstores in
eleven months.
October 15, 2007 I'm getting a resume
reading to mail to the South Coast Learning Center in New Bedford, MA
to apply for a position as an instructor with a Writer's Workshop for
their Spring classes. The titled will be "Bring That Manuscript to
Publication." It will be a very educational two hour course learing how
to get your confidence back to move forward with your book.
September 29, 2007: My
latest achievement was having a book signing at B&N at 150 Granite
Street in Braintree. The manager, Sandy Nordstrom and her staff gave me
a wonderful, warm welcome. There was a large poster at the door
entrance with a picture of myself and A Healing Heart framed with
colorful balloons, announcing the book signing.
Every half
hours, they went on the loud speaker to let people know that I was in
the bookstore near the spiritual section. Before the end of the day,
Sandy took ten autographed books to leave at B&N. I never expected
to have my book placed on their shelves, so it was wonderful. This
makes my fourth bookstore carrying A Healing Heart. If you're in the
area, drop by and buy one.
September 22, 2007 Author
Patrica Perry and myself took the "Cat" Ferry from New Bedford to
Martha's Vineyard to introduce ourselves and our books to the managers
of bookstores. Paid $5 for an all day bus travel from one end of the
island to the next. A gorgeous day! We stopped at the Edgartown Books,
Bunch of Grapes Bookstore and Imagine Bookstore in Vineyard Haven, Sanctuary Books and Sun Porch in Oak Bluff. I left copies of A Healing Heart and Pat left Quest for the Source of Darkness with the sequel Fortress of Darkness. It was a great day shared by friends.
September 18, 2007 I
instructed a Beginning Writer's Workshop at the Lakeville Public
Library at 47 Precinct Street in Lakeville. We tried our first evening
sessions and had a great turnout. Twenty six people attended and the
director, Olivia Melo, had to take names for the next workshop in the
Spring.
It's always a mixture of men, women, young teens, and
sometimes, children under twelve. Everyone took home over forty pages
on the topics that we covered. It's a great class to learn what to be
aware of with publishing, info on agents and the publishing process,
promoting your books and great web sites to help writers.
Oivia wants another book signing there in December.
September 7-14, 2007 Time
to party! We're off to Las Vegas with four other couples. Our first
trip. The weather was HOT; high 90's to 104 degrees. Sleep--What is
that? Our feet cried and our pockets got lighter signing up for
entertainment every night. Great, first-class shows. It was a week that
we hated to see end; good friends, never-ending food with very light
gambling. I left a donation of $50 at the slot machines. They can't go
too far on that now can they.
There were no computers, up-dating websites or emails. Just going from morning till night, or should I say, moring to morning.
August 26, 2007 Took
time away from the computer and went with friends to the Boston Italian
Fest at the North End. What a day of eating. Food stands were
everywhere. We had to take small portions too leave room for it all.
August 20, 2007 Had
another Workshop at the Rochester Senior Center. There were only four
people but it was fun. Two women and a boy and girl in college. The
small attendence gave us time to chat and have more time for questions
and answers.
August 10, 2007 I went to introduce
myself to Eric from the Readmore Books in Taunton, MA. He took three of
my books to put on his shelves and wants a call for a book signing in
November.
August 9, 2007 I joined four other
authors; Patricia Perry, Michael Decicco, Elaine Roth, Willie Pleasant
at a book signing at Baker Books in Dartmouth. The evening was slow but
we talked and passed out different ideas on promoting. It was more of
an evening with authors at a group meeting. It was a relaxed night.
July 7-8, 2007 A
group of three other authors, Patricia Perry, Michael DeCicco, and Amey
Tippett. We shared in the expense of a booth for the New Bedford Summer
Fest for two days. I sold twelve books and met some wonderful people. A
few other authors could not come at the last minute. Next year we plan
on having two booths with the authors who want to join us. It will be
the third year that authors are doing book signings at this event. Plan
on visiting our booth next July!
July 5, 2007 The
authors for our troops drive gathered again and packaged up the
three-hundred or so books to ship out. It was a thrilled to be part of
the group. We all hope that someone will hear back from a service man
or women who read our books. We hope they get some laughter and
relaxation during this stressful time of their lives.
May 19, 2007 A
group of authors started a book drive to send to our troops in Iraq. We
had author from different towns donate their autographed books. We
ended up with over three-hundred books.
April 24, 2007 Had
an interview with Pete Braley from WSBM Radio show in Fairhaven, MA. I
was nerviest being my first radio interview but he put me right at
ease. The station made an audio of our conversation. I hope to go on
again sometime. It took me four months to get a date.
March 31, 2007 First
book signing at the Lakeville Public Library. Joining me were Michael
DeCicco, Jan Boinstein and Joyce Walsh. Had a nice turnout and author
Patricia Perry came to support us.
November 6, 2006 A Healing Heart was published by PublishAmerican of Maryland. Now I start the hard work of promoting and marketing my book. |
