| Tuesday, April 5th, my husband, Al, and I met with Steve Meunier, the Policy Advisor to Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts. We sat at the conference table and gave our opinions on clauses that we believe could be added to The Patient Privacy Act to help the substance abusers. It was a long hour meeting but very promising. Mr. Meunier is in charge of the health system. He is very interested in our ideas wants to introduce them in Washington.
We met with Senator Kerry's Local Relations person, Janet Lebel, from his Fall River, Massachusetts office. I enjoyed talking to this warm, hearted woman. She wants to led me to other locations to do my speaking engagements with "The Effect of Alcoholism on the Whole Family" after losing a husband and daughter from this disease. I realize that this will be a lengthy step, but we opened the doors to changes.
I was always amazed at a person who fought for what they believed would help someone or something and made a difference. I never thought I'd be doing the same thing. I felt too small to do this. God really has plans for me and is making me understand the importance of not giving up in what I believe in.
